Dhanush's revenge drama Asuran directed by Vetrimaaran hit the screens on October 4. The film has opened to highly positive reviews and has performed well in its opening weekend. It has grossed Rs. 1.68 cr in Chennai city and around Rs. 14-15 cr in TamilNadu (TN) in 3 days. In Kerala, the film collected Rs. 1.26 cr and Rs. 1+ cr from the rest of the country.

The film witnessed strong footfalls on Monday (Day 4) due to Pooja holidays. It minted Rs. 56 lakhs on Day 4 making a total collection of Rs. 2.24 cr in 4 days at Chennai Box Office despite stiff competition from many new releases on October 2. 

In the overseas market, Asuran has crossed $200K mark (Rs. 1.4 cr) at the USA Box office in 4 days. It is the fifth movie this year to achieve this feat following Petta, Viswasam, Super Deluxe, Nerkonda Paarvai.

Asuran is expected to continue its strong run today on account of Vijayadasami holiday and rake in solid collections at the ticket window. According to trade sources, the film is expected to cross Rs. 20 cr mark in 5 days. The film made on a moderate budget has turned out to be a profitable venture for producer S. Thanu as the satellite , digital and overseas rights is said to be near break-even.
