K.V. Anand: Kaappaan Trailer was intentionally cut that way!

K.V. Anand directed Kaappaan which is a Suriya starrer scheduled for a release on September 20, 2019, had its trailer release three days ago and people had mixed reactions to it. Complaints such as new footage not being used (edits of cuts from earlier released teaser, promo videos was said to be re-purposed), the edit itself being jaded and the trailer resembling the actor-director duo's previous film, Maattrraan were seen floating around [People also had complaints about Harris Jayaraj's score for the film but that was not specific to the trailer].

Not to mention the ongoing plagiarism case against the film, which has Suriya fans on the edge. K.V. Anand has finally responded to the same and in a recent interview has mentioned that Kaappaan trailer was purposely edited that way so as to not give out its story. It is worth mentioning here that the trailers of the director's earlier films Ayan and Ko had a similar out-of-place vibe to its edit, though they turned to be blockbusters later-on.

Anand has also said that Kaappaan trailer was cut like 'a collage of clippings from the songs and the stunt scenes' to reassure the trade industry people that the movie has all the elements for every type of viewer. About the plagiarism case, Anand has reassured that the stakes are in his favour because unlike the prevalent practice of using 'discussion directors', he only involves himself and his dialogue, screenplay writers in the making of the story.
