#WeStandWithDhanush trends after Tamil film producers take offense to Dhanush's 'Salary' statement!

At the audio launch of his upcoming movie Asuran last evening, actor Dhanush who usually puts up a diplomatic front took everyone by surprise when he went on to state, "Getting remuneration from (Tamil film) producers is not an easy thing these days..It has become a work in itself..Producers may have complaints on us actors but in my personal experience I find many to be cheating..they are still cheating..But in Asuran, Thanu sir settled my salary prior to the shoot. It was very helpful for me.."

 

Producer Thanu whose V Creations has bankrolled Asuran tried to calm the heightened tensions by praising Dhanush and stating, "Actors like Dhanush are helping the industry to survive. He let go of 9 crores, 12 crores of money for the release of his films.. it's a rare quality for an actor of his stature.."


However, Dhanush's open statement provoked a reaction from producer A.L. Alagappan (father of director A.L. Vijay) who challenged Dhanush for an open debate on TV claiming that many producers including the one of Pudhupettai have no existence in Tamil cinema today because of the losses they occurred from Dhanush's films. He also claims that producers today only prefer to work with a Vijay or Ajith, who unlike Dhanush help the people who bankroll their films post a loss. 

 

Since this debacle, fans of Dhanush have come in support of the actor on social media and have trended the tag #WeStandWithDhanush. They have gone on to pinpoint that Dhanush is a National Award winning producer himself and his recent endeavor of dubbing from 8. 30 PM to 6 AM straight for ENPT shows anything but unprofessionalism.
