It has now been officially announced that Asuran, Dhanush's upcoming movie with director Vetrimaaran will be releasing on October 4, 2019. This gives the film a leeway of almost 5 days at the box-office starting from Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2, 2019. 

Set between 1960 and 1980, Asuran which is produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu's V Creations and is based on the Tamil novel Vekkai. The film marks Malayalam actress Manju Warrier's Tamil debut and also starrs Pasupathi and director Balaji Sakthivel among others.
