'Love does not mean having the liberty to slap' - Samantha disagrees with Arjun Reddy / Kabir Singh director's statement!

Sandeep Reddy Vanga, director of Arjun Reddy and its recent Hindi version Kabir Singh stirred up a controversy recently when he was seen in a video interview as saying,"When you are deeply in love and deeply connected to a woman and vice versa, if you don’t have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don’t see anything there." Sandeep was answering this in response to women film critics in Bollywood feeling uncomfortable over men clapping when Kabir (Shahid Kapoor) slaps Preethi (Kiara Advani) in the movie.

To make things worse, the director added, "I feel that they (the women who felt uncomfortable) were never in love, probably they've never experienced it in the right way." Needless to say this statement of his irked one too many people and actress Samantha Akkineni was one of them.

When she took to her social media page to point out the same, many digged her old tweet about the film where in she had stated, "#ArjunReddy is the most original film I have watched in a long time . The golden days of TFI are upon us . Team #ArjunReddy OUTSTANDING!!". Samantha retorted to this by stating,

"Liking the film .. and disagreeing with a comment are two different things . I loved the story of one ‘Arjun Reddy’ .. not the generalisation that love means having the liberty of slapping people around ."

Sandeep on his side has given a follow-up statement to his original interview, wherein he has said, “..You took me completely wrong. It's not assault.. It's about the liberty of the expression between a couple who is deeply connected. It works for a woman also and it works for a man also. I spoke for both the sides. But sadly, they are quoting in a very wrong way."
