Nerkonda Paarvai Trailer - First Impression Report

 
Bollywood's social thriller film Pink, which raked up the debate of 'consent' three years ago is coming to Tamil as Nerkonda Paarvai and the South version which is directed by H.Vinoth and stars Ajith in the lead had its trailer release today. Despite the repetitive territory, the two-minute has managed to keep the intrigue level intact and the following factors may have contributed to the same.


  • Ajith Fits to a T: It wasn't hard to envision Ajith as a middle-aged professional with the wisdom and knack to handle highly sensitive cases; the first impression of him from the trailer assures the buyability of such portrayal.
  • Topical Subject: It was only in late 2018, when the #MeToo wave shook the entire nation; so the brush-up of topics such as 'consent' and how dubious societal norms can be in today's day and age, might be an apt subject to be reflected on. Whether or not the message passes across even if addressed by a star actor like Ajith, is a whole different topic.
  • Rich Production Value: Despite being a court-room drama with minimalistic requirements, the film seems to come with ample production value. Then be it the cinematography or the background scores, everything looks top-notch.

Nerkonda Paarvai hits theater screens on August 10, 2019. Ajith as the wise-nut lawyer seems like an interesting character to be seen on-screen, even if it comes with slight commercial elements like the action-glimpse we got to see in the trailer.
