Nerkonda Paarvai Review: Bold and guiltless
The idea revolves around the point that when a girl says 'NO', she means 'NO'. This has been given utmost importance like in the original film. Nerkonda Paarvai also touches upon some of the ironically stupid beliefs that we as a society have about our women and this has been well etched out.(more)

Ajith Kumar delivers restraint performance through a steady mix of subtle and rousing moments and Vidya Balan makes her presence felt in a brief role as Bharath's wife, Kalyani. Shraddha Srinath does well, portrays the strength and vulnerability of Meera, and her relationship with Andrea and Famitha is shown through well-acted moments.(more)

Every line uttered by Ajith in the court, be it the rulebook for women safety or the emphasis on "no means no", this movie is sure an eye opener for the society in the wake of crimes against women, and kudos to Ajith for shedding his mass hero image and shouldering this movie and Boney Kapoor for coming forward to debut in Tamil with a content oriented flick.(more)

With arresting performances of artistes and an engaging screenplay which touch upon a sensitive issue, H Vinoth manages to stay true to the original version.
As a film, Pink has conveyed what it wants to, in an appropriate way. There is hardly anything to change in it for a remake version, but considering Ajith's fan base, the director has made some expected changes without altering any pivotal scene from the original. The actor has an extended fight scene, which is supported by Yuvan's background score. Dhilip Subbarayan's swift movements and punches are captured interestingly by Nirav Shah. Kathir's art direction brings in the required ambience for the plot.(more)

Ajith aces this courtroom drama which reiterates the meaning of consent
Nerkonda Paarvai are the portions featuring Vidya Balan. While the pairing is endearing, it doesn't quite sit with the narrative; it seems forced and feels like an afterthought. When a mass star like Ajith says 'no means no' to youngsters, it doesn't come across as just a message. It's a statement, and one that clearly needs to be heard in all the nooks and corners of Tamil Nadu.(more)

The film still works because of Ajith and the hard hitting dialogues
Nerkonda Paarvai is Thala Ajith's show all the way. Shraddha, Abirami and Andrea have done an extremely good job. Vinoth has worked the courtroom scenes brilliantly and are more powerful than the original. Lines on virginity and sexual preferences are considered to be taboo here in Tamil cinema but Vinoth has boldly talked about such topics. On the downside, the film is lengthy. (more)

Ajith hits it out of the park in a solid remake of Pink
Vinoth's hard-hitting dialogues are the strength of Nerkonda Paarvai. It is nice to see how he alters the words or the sequences to suit Tamil sensibilities. Overall, Nerkonda Paarvai is a revelation for those who haven't watched Pink. Nerkonda Paarvai starring Ajith in the lead role is a faithful remake of the Bollywood original Pink. Despite minor flaws, Nerkonda Paarvai conveys the much-needed message about women's safety and consent.(more)

Ajith's integration into this remake is to mixed results
Nerkonda Paarvai is a pretty faithful film, dialogue for dialogue. Even small touches in Pink find their way here-like the seemingly polite inspector suddenly yelling at someone, like the corrupt lawyer laughing away Bharath's speech as moralisation of the issue� Ultimately, the extent of one's enjoyment of Nerkonda Paaarvai boils down to where you stand in between the utility of a star and the purity of the message. Even if I wasn�t blown away by those final stretches of Nerkonda Paarvai, I did feel a rush of warmth to see Meera and friends finally breaking into relieved smiles. Should this film change some of our people and cause these smiles to extend to a few other women in our society, I will happily make peace with the counter-effects of a star's presence in it.(more)

This is Ajith's most significant social film
In Nerkonda Paarvai, Ajith Kumar's character Barath Subramanian gets a very simple introduction. The simplest of 'Ajith introduction scenes' that we have seen in recent times. A girl jogging in the park is creeped out by Barath's fixed gaze on her. She is not sure how to handle the situation. The gardener on the spot realises the girl's predicament and comes to her rescue by asking Barath to leave the place.(more)
