Kamal Haasan pens an emotional note on Crazy Mohan's demise!

The Kamal Haasan-Crazy Mohan combination is a force to be reckoned with in Tamil cinema and the duo time and again proved their ability to provide timeless laughter with films like Michael Madana Kama Rajan (1990), Sathi Leelavathi (1995), Avvai Shanmughi (1996), Thenali (2000), Panchathanthiram (2002), Pammal K. Sambandam (2002) and Vasool Raja MBBS (2004) to name a few.

In lieu of Crazy Mohan's sudden demise today, while the whole of Tamil cinema mourned his loss, his long-time friend and family, Kamal Haasan was seen paying tribute to the legendary comic writer. In an emotional note, Haasan recalled how Mohan had at many times lowered his level of knowledge to adapt to a common person's taste and how he will live forever through his movies.

Find below the letter which was shared by Haasan on twitter and has been translated from Tamil to English here:

One of the most important things that I envied about my friend Crazy Mohan was his child-like heart. Not everyone is blessed with it. In the name of learning the worldly affairs, many friends have lost this wonderful quality.

‘Crazy’ is not a befitting title for him. He is a 'comic genius'.

The truth is that he lowered the levels of his talents, and portrayed himself as a populist to please the crowd.

Under many circumstances he has explicitly expressed his love by saying that after Charuhaasan and Chandrahaasan, it is Mohanhaasan(meaning Crazy Mohan considered himself like an elder brother to Kamal Haasan).

As a mark of that friendship today, along with his brother Balaji, I placed my hand on his forehead and we bade him farewell.

Friendship has no end. Is friendship only present with the presence of the person?

Mohan's comedy will live through his fans, and I too will stand in support of that life.

His is a wonderful joint family. No matter how much condolences are expressed to them, (the loss) will not heal, will not be enough.

I wish them mental strength to bear and get used to this loss.

With love,

Kamal Haasan
