Radha Ravi slammed & suspended for distasteful remarks on Nayanthara, Pollachi Sexual Abuse Case

 

67 year old actor Radha Ravi is at the center of a social media storm yet again and this time it is for the insensitive remarks he made about actress Nayanthara and the Pollachi sexual assault case. 

Attending the trailer launch of Nayanthara's upcoming film Kolayuthir Kaalam, Radha Ravi who is not related to the film in any manner took the stage to compare the Pollachi sexual assault issue to a big-budget film. He said,

"These days, people do not understand the difference between a big film and small film. A small film is where one guy rapes another girl. A big film is where 40 women are raped like the Pollachi issue. This is the difference,"  

About the film's lead who was not present at the event, Radha Ravi went on to say, "Nayanthara has played the character of a ghost and has acted as goddess Sita as well.. Today, anyone can be cast to play a goddess. They can cast someone who you want to look at and pray and they can also cast someone you want to look at and call towards you (sexual reference) when you see them,"

His statements were met with a huge social media furore and a temporary suspension from his political party DMK and Tamil film industry names like Vignesh SivN (Nayanthara's real-life partner), production house KJR Studios among others have come forward backing the Lady Superstar.

Singer Chinmayi who shared the anonymous accusations against Radha Ravi during the MeToo movement once again called for action against the actor while actress Radhika Sarathkumar, half-sister of Radha Ravi issued a tweet on the situation:
