Kangana Ranaut as Jaya in A.L. Vijay's Thalaivi!

 

A.L. Vijay directed Jayalalithaa biopic Thalaivi has finally zeroed in on the lead, who will be reprising the former actress turned Chief Minister's life and it is none other than Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. 

Ranaut who was last seen as Rani Laxmibai in Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi will be seen in the Tamil and Hindi versions of the film, the Hindi version titled Jaya. Confirming her coming on board, Ranaut was quoted in the media as stating,

“Jayalalithaa ji is one of the biggest female success stories of this century. She was a superstar and went on to become an iconic politician... I am honoured to be a part of this mega project,”

Thalaivi/Jaya is produced by Vibri & Karma Media and Entertainment. The technical crew of this film includes G.V. Prakash for music, Nirav Shah on cinematography and Anthony for the edits.

It is worth mentioning here that two other versions of the Jayalalithaa biopic are also in the making; The Iron Lady with Nithya Menon as the lead is scheduled for a release on Feburary 20, 2020 while Aditya Bharadwaj produced Thaai: Puratchi Thalaivi is expected to be directed by Bharathi Raja.
