This week's lineup of movies showing in theaters look pretty good and most of them have been deemed watchable. Here's a breakdown of the movie releases this week with their respective ratings that have been sourced from review aggregator:
- Vandha Rajavathaan Varuven (Tamil): Sundar.C's version of Attarintiki Daredi is not upto a good start for it has been criticized for sticking to an outdated template of movie making and very little to add to the audiences' amusement. - Escape Room (English): The movie is about 6 people participating in a escape room game for a prize money only to later find that they've been set up in a life and death trap. The thriller has been largely criticized for striking a close resemblance to Saw (The movie) and not being as edge-of-the-seat as it.
- Mary Queen of Scots (English): Another good movie this week, the movie retraces how two first cousins Queen Mary of Scotland and Queen Elizabeth I of England ended up in one of the most historic battles of power. The movie makes for an entertaining watch despite its minor flaws.
- Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (Hindi): Another movie this week that deals with single father- daughter-in-an unusual-situation relationship to an extent, ELKDTAL deals with how a lesbian daughter uses the help of her male one-side lover to come out to her conservative family and be accepted. Worth a watch for its refreshing concept.
- Allu Ramendran (Malayalam): The movie has been praised for being a wholesome entertainer and Kunchako Boban in particular has been lauded for his first ever portrayal of a 'serious' police official. The movie has garnered a 63% in our rating aggregate.
