Seema Raja wins the New Year TRP race

The anachronism in Seema Raja may not have worked in pulling the audience to movie theaters but it sure has gotten them to switch on their Television channels, when the movie was premiered as a New Years' special.

According to the statistics released by Broadcast Audience Reseach Council (BARC) India, Seema Raja has opened with the highest TRP ratings in the Tamil Nadu / Pondicherry region.

The movie which was aired on Sun TV on January 1, 2019 has recorded a 22.02 rating in TVR**, the highest rating among any movie premiered that day across Tamil channels.

Additionally, the Sivakarthikeyan starrer has also managed to gain the highest TVR score in the films that have premiered in the last two years; Kadaikutty Singham and Mersal are at the following consecutive positions with 10.73 and 8.83 respective TVR scores.

**TVR is the measure of the popularity of a programme, daypart, commercial break or advertisement by comparing its audience to the population as a whole. One TVR is numerically equivalent to one per cent of a target audience.
