Vijay starrer Sarkar directed by A.R. Murugadoss which hit the screens worldwide for Diwali has taken a thunderous start at the Box Office. The film has grossed Rs. 100 cr worldwide in just 2 days. Sarkar is Vijay's fastest film to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark and is the actor's sixth film to achieve this feat.

Sarkar marks Thalapathy Vijay's best ever opening on day one with an estimated gross of Rs. 65-70 cr worldwide. The film has witnessed rock steady collections on Day 2 by raking more than 80% of its Day 1 collections in TamilNadu. In TN, the film has reportedly grossed Rs. 20 - 23 cr on Day 2 and around Rs. 10+ crore at the overseas market. Vijay's film has crossed Rs. 50 crore mark in Tamil Nadu in 2 days with the film grossing Rs. 29 cr on its opening day in the state.

Vijay's sixth and fastest 100 crore film

Sarkar is Vijay's 6th film to do a business of Rs. 100 Cr  and is the second Tamil film to cross this mark in 2 days after Superstar Rajinikanth's Kabali. The only other South Indian films that have grossed 100 Cr in 2 days worldwide are Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion.

1. Thuppakki (15 Days)

2. Kaththi (12 Days)

3. Theri (6 Days)

4. Bairavaa (4 Days)

5. Mersal (3 Days)

6. Sarkar (2 Days)

The hugely anticipated film has bagged mixed reviews from audience. Sarkar is expected to create new Box Office records in the coming days. The first six days are very crucial for the film to recover most of its investment as the pre-release business of the film has been quite high. The film needs to earn around Rs. 140+ crore in TN alone to achieve break even mark.
