Marking the occasion of Kamal Haasan's birthday today, Lyca Productions sent out a tweet wishing the actor and confirming that their project together, Indian 2 will be beginning shooting soon. It was earlier reported by us that Indian 2 was to begin shooting by December, 2018.

This is the first official announcement on the film's shooting and before this director Shankar and his team were spotted on a recce in Andhra Pradesh. A sequel to Shankar's 1996 hit movie Indian, Indian 2 will see the return of Kamal Haasan as 'Senapathi', the Independence war veteran who killed corrupt officials and actor Nedumudi Venu as Krishnaswamy, who tried hunting Senapathi down but didn't succeed. 

Nayanthara will be seen playing the female lead in Indian 2 which will have music by Anirudh, cinematography by Ravi Varman and art by T. Muthuraj. The movie is said focus more on the loop-holes in the political system and is expected to serve as a political platform for Kamal Haasan.
