Kadaram Kondan: The meaning behind Vikram's unique film title

Actor Vikram's 56th film has its first look and title unveiled on Diwali day and Kadaram Kondan with all its uniqueness caught everyone's attention. A simple internet search revealed that this name was first bestowed upon a Tamil King by the name Virarajendra Chola, who conquered Kadaram (modern day Kedah, Malaysia) in 1068 C.E, and his title was nothing but the Tamil equivalent of someone who conquered the said place.

The Cholas are further said to have went on a 20 year conquest spree throughout the areas of what is today parts of Indonesia and Malaysia and interestingly Vikram plays a Malaysian gangster of Tamil origin in the film.

Kadaram Kondan also stars Akshara Haasan, Abhi Mehdi Haasan (actor Nasser's son) and 8 Thottakal heroine Meera Mithun among others. The film is directed by Rajesh M Selva and is jointly produced by Raj Kamal Films International and Trident Arts.
