Nayathara starrer Kolamaavu Kokila which hit the screens last Friday (August 17) is having a good run at the Box Office as the word of mouth is positive. Harish Kalyan, Raiza Wilson starrer Pyaar Prema Kadhal which released on August 10 is also having a decent run at the theatres.

Four films have released this weekend (August 24). Prabhu Deva’s Lakshmi, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar’s Echarikkai, Vijay Sethupathi’s Merku Thodarchi Malai and Krishna’s Kalari are battling at the Box Office.

August 30/31 is going to be another crowded weekend at the TN box office for Kollywood. With as much as 8 films lined up for release next Friday, the fate of these films is certainly under a cloud. These films will also have to survive despite other language releases in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada and English.

While known films or star-driven films may get a good amount of screens, other medium and small budget films may find it extremely tough to get decent number of screens in this hectic race. Smaller films have to rely on good word-of-mouth to find audiences.

Nayanthara’s Imaikka Nodigal (August 30), Radha Mohan’s 60 Vayadu Maaniram, Dinesh’s Annanukku Jai, Pa. Vijay’s Aaruthra, Karthik Naren’s Naragasooran, Jiiva’s Kee, Samuthrakani’s Aan Devathai and Vanjagar Ulagam have announced its release date as August 31.

While it is doubtful whether all the films will be hitting the screens on the same date, four films (Imaikka Nodigal, 60 Vayadu Maaniram, Annanukku Jai, Aaruthra) have confirmed its release as per schedule and the status of the other 4 films is yet to be known. Karthik Naren’s sophomore directorial “Naragasooran” is likely to get postponed to September. We need to wait for official confirmation from the respective makers to know the final release schedule of films next weekend.
