Kamal Haasan reveals why he made a Hindi version of Vishwaroopam 2

Kamal Haasan starrer Vishwaroopam 2 which is also directed and produced by him is due to hit theatre screens on August 10, 2018 and in one of his interviews while promoting the film, the Ulaganayagan went on to reveal the reason behind why there is a Hindi version of the film as well /at all. He said,

"..I keep telling my producers that since we have a market there [in Bollywood].. instead of letting it go, defunct or atrophy, we can actually use it because the cost is only one and a half times. It amortizes the cost, like you build an expensive set and then you demolish it. But if you use it for two different markets, it makes sense. That is what Vishwaroop 2 is all about. It is anyway going to cost this much because I am making it in one language."

Haasan also said that the dubbing doesn't work for every film and cited the example of Chachi 420 to have the 'suspension of belief' over the Hindi audience only because made as a completely different version and not just dubbed.

"..there are certain things you have to explain culturally when you switch languages.. But Vishwaroop 2 was actually set in the North. It was more suitable to be a Hindi film.. That is why I wanted to make it in Hindi."

Kamal Haasan also added that the only film through which Raaj Kamal Films International (his production banner) made table profit was Hey Ram, a film that again had separate Hindi and Tamil versions instead of dubbed ones.
