Movies This Week: Mr. Chandramouli, Pantham & My Story put up an average show

Despite the limited number of releases in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu, the films have only put up an average show. A look into the movies that are available for view this weekend:

  • Mr. Chandramouli (Tamil) (Review Here) Despite an interesting concept and ample pre-release promotions, Mr. Chandramouli has made an impression as only a passable masala flick. The movie is about Raghav (played by Gautham Karthik), a professional boxer who gets entangled in a battle between his professional and personal life. The movie has raked 48% in our film ratings.

  • Pantham (Telugu) Touted as a film for Gopichand fans, Pantham is about a robin-hoodesque thief who only steals from politicians. The after-math of his actions plotted by the politicians is what forms the rest of the story and what has not been so impressive. The film has generated a 50% rating in our movie rankings.

  • My Story (Malayalam) (Review Here) Even with names like Prithviraj and Parvathy, Rohini Dinaker directed My Story is off to a very slow start. The film is about the love that blooms between an established actress and a budding actor and the roler-coaster journey it takes them on. However, the presence of too many cliches in the film has lead to only a 50% rating in our movie rankings.

Other movies that are available for viewing this weekend are the English comedy Tag, which is about five friends who have been taking the game of tag more seriously than the other aspects in their life and the Telugu romantic drama Tej I Love U starring Sai Dharam Tej and Anupama Parameswaran. Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs which is an animated movie about dogs, with voices of Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Goldblum is also available in theatres this weekend.
