The shooting of Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi went on for a while. The film is a sequel to actor Vadivelu's earlier blockbuster Imasai Arasan 23am Pulikesi. Then due to 'creative differences' Vadivelu had a fall-out with director Chimbudevan and producers director Shankar and Lyca Productions and eventually shooting of the film was stalled. A complaint against Vadivelu was filed with the producers' council. Later Vadivelu had agreed to resume shooting of the film as the producer's council had decided that failure to do so would result in him paying upto Rs. 9 crore.

Vadivelu has now issued a stamentent to the Nadigar Sangam with a clarification on why he would not be able to further continue to work in Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi. Here goes the statement:

I had agreed to act in Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi in 1-6-2016. The film shooting was planned to be wrapped by the end of December 2016. The makers didn’t want me to act in any other films till the completion of the film which I had agreed and had avoided working in other films. There was a delay and the film shoot didn’t even start until December 2016. Despite the delay, with due respect to the producers and benefit of the film industry, I had acted in the film on various dates requested by them. At that time, my personal costume designer was sacked by S Pictures from working on my costumes.

The makers had filed a complaint against me in the Producers council, with an evil intention of defaming my name and reputation. Also they have created an illusion that I have gained so much popularity in the film industry, only through this film (Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi). If I had refused to act in the film (Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi), why didn’t the production house lodge a complaint against me then? The complaint was lodged with an evil intention, only after a year of completion of the contract period. After having committed to work in this film, I had to reject several film offers during the period 2016 – 2017. I had suffered financial loss and severely depressed at the same time.

The Nadigar Sangam, went against the rules, in compelling me to act in this film without even hearing my side of the story. If I continue to work in this film, the other films which I have committed will get affected. I am not in a position to neither continue acting in the film nor allot dates for ‘Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi’ due to financial crisis, family situation and depression I am currently undergoing.
