Gypsy, actor Jiiva's upcoming film with director Raju Murugan, began with an official pooja ceremony on February 15, 2018. The function was attended by prominent film directors like Pa.Ranjith, Bramma, H.Vinoth, and producer S.R.Prabhu. The ceremony also brought to notice the technical crew that has been signed for the film. It includes Santhosh Narayanan for music, Maanagaram fame S.K. Selva Kumar for cinematography and Aruvi fame Raymond Derrick Crasta for the edits. Added to this C.S. Balachander who has worked as the art director for most of Bala's films including Naachiyaar will be taking care of the production design for this movie. 

 Gypsy is bankrolled by S. Ambethkar of Olympia Movies and is said to be a story based on music and travel. It is said that Jiiva's character in the movie is more on the lines of Jordan (JJ) played by Ranbir Kapoor in the film Rockstar. However, there has been no official confirmation on the same.
