AAA controversy, social media adieu, Red-card threats, and a not so impactful musical debut may have amounted to a  rough 2017 for Simbu but the onset of 2018 looks promising for the Jr. TR. While he has the coveted Mani Ratnam project in the making, news has it that the actor is all set to be directed by another well known director. STR is expected to join hands with director Saran, who is known for directing Ajith in four highly super-hit films - Kaadhal Mannan, Amarkalam, Asal and Attagaasam (which was also the director's last well received release).
  
While details of the project are not known yet, the duo is expected to make an official announcement soon. Simbu also has a self-directed English movie in the pipeline which is expected to be dubbed and released in Tamil as well.
