Of late, the actor has been quite vocal against the hate / wrong messages sent out in association with the reality show Bigg Boss Tamil. He came in defence of all house inmates when they were trolled on the platform, suggesting that the show was just a game and encouraged supporting one's favourite contestant rather than bashing the others. But the actor lost his cool when a fake tweet of his that suggested his interest in marrying a contestant from the show, was picked by some media outlets and was circulated as news. 

This incident seems to have strongly influenced STR's decision to come off the platform as the actor had sent several disappointment and warning tweets earlier.
