Mersal emerges on top in Vijay's traditional stronghold

Mersal has set new Tamil cinema collection records in many markets while in some others it is chasing the records of previous Rajini blockbusters or Baahubali 2. The latest news on its boxoffice front is from Kerala (a long-time Vijay stronghold) where it has reportedly emerged as the highest ever grosser among Tamil films, crossing Shankar's I.

Mersal is also obviously Vijay's highest, bettering Theri while it has also crossed Rajini's recent Kabali. Mersal's Kerala gross has touched 20 CR it seems while a few opine that it's a slightly hyped-up figure.

Baahubali 2 is the highest ever grosser among other language films in Kerala (it had a Malayalam dubbed version).
