Osthi Music Review (First Impression Report)

Osthi Music Review -- First Impression Report (FIR)

Thaman belts out his first "mass" album in Tamil. After his moderately successful album, Vandhaan Vendraan, and blockbuster Dookudu in Telugu, Thaman is in full form with his Osthi. Osthi team appears to be crystal clear in what they wanted out of this music album and Thaman seems to have clearly understood the expectations. Osthi definitely does not boast of lilting melody nor profound lyrics. And yet, it still works.

Simbu continues the trend of ultra-simple lyrics bordering on sillyness with his "Pondatti". After his popular "loosu penne","evan di unna pethan", Simbu clearly establishes himself as the owner of this genre of songs in Tamil. This song serves the purpose of capturing your attention and take a notice of this album. LR Eswari who is known for her wake-up-call-kovil songs will take you by surprise with how effortlessly she has delivered the "Kalasala" song. With Mallika Sherawat and Simbu expected to shake their assets, this song will partially match up to "Munni badnam hui"'s immense popularity. "Neduvaali" with its instantly likable beats, racy pace and addictive couplet lines around "Dumeel" and "Damaal" is sure to rock the charts. Rahul Nambiar delivers this song in style. "Unnale Unnale" is the typical Thaman styled melody number with slightly doctored high pitch voice with layers of orchestration you may have heard in his other albums. "Osthey Maame" is your mass masala song and didn't leave a strong impression in the first few hearings.

MovieCrow Pick : Neduvaali, Kalasala, Unnale Unnale, Pondatti

Bottomline: Osthi music is unpretentious and may not have taken itself too seriously. This fits the style of the movie and underlying rowdy attitude displayed by the lead character. Go, give it a try...
