Mersal's record Karnataka deal

Karnataka was one of the last few territories where Mersal's theatrical rights weren't sold. That has also been closed now, with Horizon Studio (who recently released films like Vikram Vedha and Karuppan in the state) grabbing it for 5.5 CR MG. This is a new non-Rajini record price for a Tamil film in Karnataka, after Kabali.

Mersal has to gross more than 11 CR to be a viable outing for the Karnataka distributor. The hype is really big, as we all know, and adding on to the high ticket rates and the long Diwali weekend, Mersal looks like a definite winner.
