Mersal to release on Diwali, title issue cleared

After a nail-biting legal battle over the use of the title Mersal, producer Hema Rukmani announced last evening that good news awaits fans of her lead actor Vijay. And as expected, the verdict has come in their favour and the film been steered clear of title infringement.

This lifts the uncertainity over the film's release as it will now be submitted with a proper title for censorship and the assurance by producer Murali Ramaswamy over Mersal's release plans helps as well. Directed by Atlee, Mersal stars Vijay in a triple role and has Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal and Nithya Menon as female leads. Mersal is produced by Sri Thenandal Films and has A.R. Rahman for the music.
