Kaala to begin shooting in Chennai on this date

Actor Rajinikanth's 164th film Kaala which is being directed by Pa. Ranjith recently wrapped its month long schedule at Mumbai. The team has completed 10 percent of shooting at Mumbai that includes some songs and action sequences and will begin the next schedule on July 12, 2017 at EVP, Chennai. As reported earlier, the shooting will take place in the replica of the Dharavi slum that has been erected at Ponnamallee at a budget of Rs. 5 crore. Most of the talkie portions are expected to be shot here as the Mumbai schedule did not see much of it. Lead actor Rajinikanth is said to have returned from US to begin this shooting tomorrow. 

While it is a known fact that actress Easwari Rao is paired opposite Rakinikanth in the film, lesser known fact is that the actress who played Dhanush's sister in Sullan is playing Rajinikanth's wife in Kaala. Actor Dileepan who played the lead in 2013 release Vathikuchi plays the pair's son in the movie. Given that Ranjith is known for his interesting choice of casting (his last outing Kabali stands proof of it), his selection for Kaala seems to come as no surprise as well.
