Actor Rajinikanth's 164th film Kaala which is being directed by Pa. Ranjith has reportedly wrapped its month long schedule at Mumbai. The team is now expected to head to Chennai and shoot the remaining film in the replica of tue Dharavi slum that has been erected at Ponnamallee at a budget of Rs. 5 crore. Interestingly, Kaala - Karikaalan has also made it to the news for gearing up to release for Pongal next year. i.e. January 14, 2018. However, given that Rajini's other film 2.0 has confirmed its release during the republic day weekend i.e January 25, 2018, we believe one of these films will undergo a date change. 

Unlike Rajini's recent releases, Kaala is also being shot simultanesously in Hindi especially the scenes featuring Rajinikanth and other key scenes. The backdrop of Mumbai and the inclusion of Bollywood familiar faces like Nana Patekar, Pankaj Tripathi, Sayaji Shinde, Huma Qureshi and Anjali Patil seems to have prompted this move. Produced by Dhanush under Wunderbar Films, Kaala has Santosh Narayanan for music, Murali. G for cinematography and Sreekar Prasad for the edits. The movie which also starrs Samuthirakani, Easwari Rao and Arvind Akash is expected to hit theatre screens in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi next year.
