Case filed against the title and story of Rajinikanth's Kaala

Actor Rajinikanth's Kaala began shooting admist much fan-fare at Mumbai over the weekend. But ever since the title was announced, the movie has silently beem facing opposition for its title and story-line from an upcoming director of Kollywood. Now the issue has gone one step further and a director by the name Rajashekar has filed a complaint with the Commissioner's office at Chennai. He has alleged that the title Kaala along with the story-line of the film, belongs to him and that he had registered the title way back in 1996.

What's interesting is that back in 2012, the same director had successfully obtained the an objection order over the use of the title Karikaalan (for a movie starring Vikram) claiming that the title belonged to him. Incidentally it is now being used as a sub-title for Kaala. Another note-worthy fact is that Rajashekar is an erstwhile assistant of Kasthuri Raja, whose son Dhanush is producing Kaala under his Wunderbar Films. Will Rajashekar succeed this time too or will the Pa. Ranjith directorial get to retain its title is something we will have to wait and watch.
