Kamal Haasan retorts to Subramaniyan Swamy

Kamal Haasan has been one of those celebrities who has been consistently supportive of Jallikattu right from the beginning. The actor has been extremely vocal about this issue and has kept us updated on his stand from time to time. Recently the actor was seen addressing a gathering at the launch of a new website for South Indian Cinematographers Association. In what seemed like a retort to Subramanian Swamy's use of the term "porukkis" (meaning scoundrels) in his tweet barrage on the Jallikattu topic, Kamal Haasan said,

“Someone called us Tamil porukkigal (Tamil scoundrels). Yes I’m a Tamil porukki, I will pick things here and not in Delhi. People may think that I’m talking politics here, no it’s my pride”.

A former union cabinet minsister of BJP, Subramanian Swamy was one of the first people to come in support of Jallikattu. He claims that his use of the term "porukkis" and other slander words are aimed at the anti-socialists in the movement. However the continuous usage has been constantly criticised and has not gone down well the Tamil Film fraternity. Meanwhile, Subramian Swamy continues to hold ground with his statements against the cine industry.
