Daniel Kish - Inspiration for Vikram

Inspiration Behind Thaandavam

Daniel Kish, the inspiration behind Vikram’s role in Thaandavam, was introduced to the media today. Daniel Kish has been blind since he was 13 months old but that never deterred his spirits. He had developed a way to see through echolocation. The technique is commonly used by bats to locate the objects with the help of reflected sound.

Daniel has been training hundreds of children over the years through ‘World Access for the Blind’, a non-profitable organization that helps blind people to find more freedom. Daniel has trained Vikram for his role in the film he has also done a cameo performance. While addressing the media, Daniel said “What I am able to do is not important for me, what I am able to teach is important for me. It was very easy for me to act in the film as I was portraying myself. I was never asked to imitate someone else. I enjoyed working with Vikram and it was a pleasant experience.

Kudos to the UTV team for bringing Daniel Kish from America to address the media here! This would create more awareness about echolocation technique among the visually impaired people.
