Preview of Pongal releases

As many as four known and prospective Tamil movies, that have famous stars in their cast, are hitting the screens for Pongal, making it a very crowded weekend at the box office. The screens will have to be shared between the four movies, which means their opening will not be massive and the initial reviews will play a key role in making them a Hit. Check out what to expect from the Pongal releases!

1. Rajini Murugan

Sivakarthikeyan's Rajini Murugan is directed by Ponram of Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam fame. Soori, the usual sidekick of Sivakarthikeyan is present in this movie as well. Keerthy Suresh plays the leading role in this film, which has music by Imman.

2. Kathakali

Post Pasanga 2, director Pandiraj is back with a mainstream commercial entertainer, Kathakali. The movie has Catherine Tresa playing the lead role, with Soori and Karunas in pivotal roles. The movie has music by Hiphop Tamizha.

What to expect: An intense action entertainer wherein Vishal bashes tens of goons

3. Gethu

Udhayanidhi Stalin has teamed up with the most happening Amy Jackson for Gethu, which is eventually the USP of the film. Directed by Thirukumaran of Maan Karate fame, the movie has Sathyaraj, Vikranth and Karunakaran in central characters. Music is scored by Harris Jayaraj.

What to expect: An action entertainer with Udhayanidhi Stalin coming out of his comfort zone

4. Tharai Thappattai

Director Bala is back with yet another rural drama, with Karagattam being the main focus of this film. Sasikumar and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar play the lead roles in this film, which also happens to be Maestro Ilayaraja's 1000th film as a music director.

What to expect: A hard-hitting revenge drama, which is sure to moist your eyes
