Dhanush’s Maari opened to mixed reviews, but Dhanush’s fans made sure that the movie took a very good opening. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

 

1. Maari

Director Balaji Mohan’s attempt to take the mass route has slightly backfired according to critics, while the movie has managed to please a section of the audience too. It would be interesting to see if the movie sustains the buzz level in the coming weeks and turns out to be a hit.

 

2. Baahubali

---

SS Rajamouli’s latest sensation, Baahubali has been declared as a blockbuster by trade pundits. Interestingly, the movie has also joined the most coveted 300-crore club. All eyes are already set on the second part of the film, which will hit the screens next year.

 

3. Papanasam

---

Kamal Haasan’s Papanasam had to leave way for new releases, but the movie still enjoyed great occupancy levels across multiplexes. The movie is good to stay at the theatres for at least next couple of weeks.

 

Other Movies

Movies like Indru Netru Naalai, Kaaka Muttai and Romeo Juliet were screened across a couple of screens each.
