UTV Motion Pictures & Thirupathy Brothers Jointly produced Pongal Release Vettai which had a big star cast in the form of Madhavan, Aarya , Sammera Reddy & Amala Paul was the 2nd film this year to successfully complete 50 days in many centers across Tamil Nadu. This film was directed by Linguswamy was well accepted by the Mass & family audiences as it was their second favorite release during Pongal after Shankar's Nanban.

Vettai was a Hit at the Boxoffice in both domestic as well as international territories due the wide release strategy adopted by UTV Motion Pictures who took up the Overseas distribution. It had also got Tamilnadu Government's Entertainment Tax exemption as it had got a U certificate.

Vettai was successful at the International Box office equally. In The USA it had a decent 6 week run at the Boxoffice where it got released in 34 centers grossing $204,573 USD. In UK & Malaysia, the collective gross was around $476,799 USD. Overall Vettai was one successful venture for UTV motion Pictures after Deivathirumagal.
