Vai Raja Vai Songs - Music Review
- Akilan Nagarajan

VandhaKadha (Listen Here)– Quite an unconventional “polambal” song with GaanaBala’s standard vocals. An interesting start to the album. Nothing much to write about.

PachaiVanna  (Listen Here)

A typical Yuvan number, which sounds like composed while having a hangover from his recent Bollywood exploits. Yuvan's vocals add to the charm of this song and the usage of EDM sets towards the end is unexpected. Overall, the song will be lapped up by Yuvan's fans.

Pookamazh (Listen Here)

This track may not have catchy beats, but has a very neat presentation as a club number. Might work for its pace, and Tanvi Shah’s exciting vocals.

NaamVazhndhidum  (Listen Here)

Draws heavily from many of Yuvan's earlier rock exploits, but manages to stay clear of being ordinary due to the wonderful mixing. This is one pumped up song, start to end. Will be the pick of the album, and also adds to the list of Hip Hop TamizhanAadhi’s successful ventures. He is scoring a lot with collaborations, and this song is no less. The portion that screams the title is memorable, and that should be enough to make this rule the charts.

Move Your Body (Listen Here

Raja sir’s vocals for this ultra-modern composition gives a strange, as well as enjoyable feeling. Also quite a laid off song for all the hype around it.

Verdict:

On the whole, this is not as convincing an album if Yuvan Shankar Raja is projecting it as the launch pad for a comeback, but works adequately otherwise. It hasn’t given lots to rave about, but is definitely a notch above his recent blips in Tamil Cinema. Naan Vazhndhidum and PachaiVanna are the two tracks you are sure to carry along in your daily playlist, for the near future.
