MovieCrow Box Office Report - December 5 to 7

There was a mad rush among filmmakers last week to release their films before the release of Lingaa on December 12th. It has ultimately reduced the reach of all movies and among last week's releases, only Ra managed to garner some attention. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Kaaviya Thalaivan

The screen count of Kaaviya Thalaivan was visibly reduced, but the movie found patronage among movie buffs. We will have to wait and see if the stellar efforts from the cast and crew will turn into a commercial hit.

2. Naaigal Jaakirathai

Sibiraj's Naaigal Jaakirathai was surprisingly holding on to majority of screens in its third weekend. The movie is well on its way to become a sleeper hit.

 

3. Ra

Newcomer Prabhu Yuvaraj's Ra opened to fairly positive reviews, but the occupancy level was quite disappointing. If the makers had chosen to release the film on a more prospective date, the movie could have got more patronage.

Other Movies

The screen count of Aaaah was increased after the first weekend, and the movie had decent footfalls at the multiplexes. Movies like 1 Pandhu 4 Run 1 Wicket and 13 aaam Pakkam Paarka released across a handful of screens, but there was absolutely no buzz about those films.

Upcoming week's releases

Almost every movie that is currently running across the screens in Chennai will be replaced by Superstar Rajinikanth's Lingaa on December 12th. Make way for the King!
