MovieCrow Box Office Report - August 8 to 10

There was no notable Tamil release during last weekend and the movies with positive buzz made merry at the box office. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Jigarthanda

Karthik Subbaraj's Jigarthanda is being celebrated by the audience and the critics alike. The movie buffs are watching it multiple times to appreciate the nuances in the screenplay. Simha has got his due recognition and the expectations on his upcoming movies have increased.

2. Velai Illa Pattathari

Dhanush's Velai Illa Pattathari has been going steady across all centres and the movie has been declared as a super hit already by trade sources. Dhanush and Anirudh are the showstoppers in the movie, and Dhanush's 25th film has indeed become a milestone in his career.

3. Sathuranga Vettai

Thanks to the positive word of mouth, newcomer Vinoth's Sathuranga Vettai had managed to retain most of the screens even in its 4th week, in spite of not having popular stars. Natraj has a good problem to handle now - to juggle between acting and cinematography.

Other Movies

Sarabham could not sustain at the box office, in spite of getting fairly positive reviews. This is probably the first CV Kumar's film that lost majority of screens in just a week. Arima Nambi and Thirumanam Enum Nikkah are running across a handful of screens with low occupancy levels.

Upcoming week's releases

Suriya's most anticipated film Anjaan will be hitting the screens on August 15th and the advance bookings have already begun. Parthiban's Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam will also be releasing on the same day.
