Few movies impress the audience from the very beginning, right from the time when the teaser, trailer and music are launched. Dhanush's much-hyped 25th film Velai Illa Pattathari is one such film, which has everything going in its way so far. Directed by cinematographer Velraj, Amala Paul plays the leading lady in the film.

Strengths

• Going by the trailer, the premise of the film looks like the home ground for Dhanush. As the name suggests, he plays a jobless graduate (engineer) in the film and the word from the team is that the current generation would relate to the film.
• Anirudh continues his dream run in this film too, as the songs have already become chartbusters. Interestingly, all the songs in the film have been sung by Dhanush and Anirudh. Anirudh's pulsating BGM would be an added advantage to the film too.
• The trailer of the film has struck the right chord and the dialogues have become popular already. This will ensure that the movie gets the much needed initial push. The running time of 2 hours and 13 minutes might make the movie a breezy watch.

Weakness

• Few people have felt that VIP reminds them of Dhanush's earlier movies like Polladhavan and Thiruvilayadal Aarambam. However, Dhanush's lively performance would most likely enable us to overcome that feeling.

Opportunity

• After his Bollywood entry, Dhanush has become more popular across the world and his stellar performances have also put him in the spotlight. VIP will be released in 33 screens across USA, which will be Dhanush's biggest release so far. When this movie succeeds, it would increase the brand value of Dhanush across all territories.

Threat

• Newcomer H Vinoth's Sathuranga Vettai is also releasing on July 18, and the movie has been getting rave responses from the celebrities, who have already watched the film. Although it is a lesser known film, one cannot rule out the possibility that the initial collections would split between VIP and Sathuranga Vettai, as the latter is being vigorously marketed by Lingusamy's Thirupathi Brothers banner.Also, several movies like Jigarthanda and Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah are releasing from July 24. VIP needs to get favourable reviews and WOM from the word go, to be retained across all theatres for first few weeks.

It's been a long time since a Tamil movie satisfied all sections of the audience. We hope that Dhanush's VIP does it and becomes a winner at the box office too. As usual, we will come up with the FDFS review.
