Lubber Pandhu Director Tamilarasan Pachaimuthu opens up on Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan

Speaking about Sivakarthikeyan, Lubber Pandhu director Tamilarasan Pachaimuthu said he has known the actor for nearly eight years and first worked with him as the first assistant director on Kanaa, which Sivakarthikeyan produced. He noted that while films featuring Sivakarthikeyan often turn out to be successful, the actor ensures there is always a strong story at the core.

Tamilarasan revealed that during the initial narration of Kanaa, the film had several scenes built around Sivakarthikeyan, including a powerful interval block focused on him. However, Sivakarthikeyan rejected that version, stating that he disliked the second half and felt the film was turning into “his movie,” whereas Kanaa was meant to be Sathyaraj and Aishwarya Rajesh’s story. Following this, the team worked on eight different versions before finalising the film, which Tamilarasan credits to Sivakarthikeyan’s clarity that helped Kanaa emerge as a true director-driven film.

He also praised Ravi Mohan for boldly coming forward to act in the film, adding that Ravi Mohan continues to listen to stories from first-time directors — a quality he described as rare and admirable among leading actors.
