Tamil star actor Vijay's last outing in the film industry is a movie titled Jana Nayagan, after which he will be focussing full-time on his new-found political career. Jana Nayagan written and directed by H Vinoth releases on January 9, 2026 in theaters worldwide, and advance bookings for the movie are on the verge of opening anytime soon. 

With only 5 days left for Jana Nayagan's release, the film's trailer is out now. Produced by the KVN Productions banner in their Tamil debut, Jana Nayagan is a multi-starrer action thriller with Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain among others in its ensemble. 

An official remake of the Telugu action drama Bhagavanth Kesari (2023) written by Anil Ravipudi, Jana Nayagan follows the story of an exiled cop named Thalapathy (Vijay), who haunted by betrayal takes guardianship of a traumatised young woman named Viji (Mamitha Baiju), and pushes her toward the Indian Army, only for his violent past to resurface when a ruthless tycoon (Bobby Deol) targets them both.

Jana Nayagan's technical crew includes Anirudh Ravichander for music, Sathya Sooryan for cinematography, Pradeep E Ragav for edits, and Anl Arasu for the stunt choreography. Despite being Vijay's last release, Jana Nayagan unfortunately will not be a solo outing this Pongal. The movie meets Sivakarthikeyan-Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi at the Pongal 2026 box-office. 

Despite being a Telugu film's remake, Jana Nayagan will also be releasing in Telugu as Jana Nayakudu, and in Hindi as Jan Neta. Telugu and Hindi trailers are linked below.
