Industry sources indicate that Cibi Chakravarthi, best known for directing Sivakarthikeyan’s Don, has emerged as the current frontrunner to helm Superstar Rajinikanth’s 173rd film. The filmmaker’s name is said to be leading discussions among all contenders as the makers close in on finalising the project.

However, there is no official confirmation yet from the production house. The director’s name is expected to be formally revealed tomorrow, alongside the official announcement of Thalaivar 173, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the much-awaited project.
