Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) has officially confirmed that the announcement of Superstar Rajinikanth’s 173rd film will be made tomorrow, setting the stage for one of the most eagerly awaited updates in Tamil cinema. The project, backed by RKFI, has been in active development over the past few months and has already generated strong industry buzz.

The film was earlier launched with director Sundar C attached to helm the project. However, he exited the film soon after the launch for reasons yet to be disclosed, prompting the makers to begin scouting for a director best suited to mount the Superstar’s next. As previously reported, several filmmakers were in contention, with names like Nithilan, Ramkumar Balakrishnan (Parking) and Ashwath Marimuthu (Dragon) doing the rounds after narrating scripts to Rajinikanth.

More recently, director Cibi Chakravarthi, best known for Sivakarthikeyan’s Don, has also emerged as a strong name in discussions, adding further intrigue to the project. With the official announcement scheduled for tomorrow, clarity is finally expected on the film’s director, marking a major step forward for Thalaivar 173 and putting an end to weeks of speculation.
