Poraali Preview

Poraali will be releasing on Thursday and many people are not too enthusiastic about the movie so far. It is surprising to see the lack of buzz despite the fact that the winning team of Nadodigal is coming again after roughly 2.5 years. Looks like Eesan's failure is hanging over the movie's head heavily.

Strength

• Winning combination of Nadodigal and Subramaniapuram. Hard-hitting performance and screenplay can be expected from Sasikumar and Samuthirakanni combination.
• Strong technical crew members who were part of earlier Sasikumar hits (including Subramaniapuram)

Weakness

• The Trailer has failed to create an impression in people's minds. Simple trailers like "OKOK" with a crystal clear message to audience on what to expect from the movie have worked better than a confusing medley of 100s of well taken shots.
• Poraali songs did not top the charts. These days it is become more important for songs to be a hit for getting an opening and generating positive buzz.
• Lack of promotions, no media interviews, unclear posters/movie related images have not inspired audience interest so far. Surprising that Sasikumar had done more effective and focused promotions for smaller budget movies like Pasanga and Subramaniapuram in the past.

Opportunity

• Low expectation surrounding the movie and Mayakkam Enna showing drop in attendance could work in Poraali's favor. If the movie is family friendly and gets positive word of mouth, the movie can get a good run until Christmas.

Threat

• Sandwiched between Osthe and Mayakkam Enna is not a good news. The remnants of Diwali release movies are still expected to cause minor dents in collections.
