House Mates starring actor Darshan in the lead is an upcoming Tamil language horror comedy drama that is all set to release in theaters on August 1, 2025. The movie written and directed by Rajavel, is jointly produced by Sivakarthikeyan Productions, Play Smith Studios, and South Studios. 

Talking about Sivakarthikeyan's role in House Mates, and the star actor's reaction to the movie, actor Darshan has stated in an interview, 

"Sivakarthikeyan was aware of House Mates right from the time the story was narrated to me. He kept tabs on it at every level of production. Not just because he is my well-wisher, but he also liked the film.

Immediately after watching House Mates, Sivakarthikeyan said he would present the film. We all know the quality movies he has produced and presented, and hopefully, House Mates will join the list." 

 

House Mates had a pre-release promotional event this bygone weekend, and producer Vijay Prakash of Playsmith Studios shared on that stage, "Sivakarthikeyan enjoyed the House Mates film a lot, and it was Arun Vishwa of Shanthi Talkies (produced Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran in 2023) who connected the dots, leading to Sivakarthikeyan Productions coming on board."

Veteran Tamil director KS Ravikumar who played Sivakarthikeyan's co-star in Remo (2016), also had good things to say about House Mates at the film's pre-release event, thanks to Sivakarthikeyan.  The filmmaker said, 

"Sivakarthikeyan invited me for a private screening of House Mates. Director Rajavel wasn’t aware we were attending, and I could sense he was a bit nervous about how we’d receive the film.

 

But I must say, the film has come out really well. At many points, I could feel myself in his shoes. House Mates is sure to excite audiences, they’ve been very clever with the trailer, keeping the core under wraps.
