Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan in the lead is a Mani Ratnam directed gangster action drama, that released in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2025. The movie has AR Rahman for music, and in the Hindi and Telugu versions of the Thug Life album, singer Chinmayi has crooned songs titled Ang Ang Morey and Muddu Vaana. 

The original Tamil version of these numbers is titled Muthatha Mazhai, and is crooned by singer Dhee in the album. Chinmayi faces a ban from the South Indian Cine, Television Artistes And Dubbing Artists Union (SICTADAU), due to the issues she raised during the #MeToo wave. This prevents her from working in the Tamil film industry unless the ban is lifted.

Due to Dhee's unavailability, Chinmyai got a chance to perform Muthatha Mazhai live at Thug Life's audio launch, before the film's release. And ever since there has been an overwhelming demand for Chinmayi's version of Muthatha Mazhai on audio streaming platforms.
