Thug Life is all the buzz right now, as the movie is set to resume promotions with a Tamil trailer launch on May 17, 2025 at 5 PM. Consecutively, Thug Life Hindi, Malayalam, and Telugu trailers will release between May 20 - May 22, 2025. At this time, a revelation by Kamal Haasan in an interview with THR India has garnered the attention of fans, and movie buffs. 

Thug Life is jointly written by Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam. Opening up about the same Kamal Haasan stated, "We (Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan) both wrote it (Thug Life) together. When I say we wrote it together, it is not the noise of two pens scribbling together. I finished (writing) what I perceived to be a good film to make for myself."

Revealing details about his self-written script for Thug Life, Kamal Haasan stated,

"So I finished a script. It was called 'Amar Hai' at that time. 'Amar Hai' is a pun. A man who is believed to be dead is not dead. His name is Amar. And that's the problem. Like (Alfred) Hitchcock's trailer on 'The Trouble With Harry' (1955), the trailer says 'the trouble with Harry is that he is dead'. 

 

I wrote this 'Amar Hai', it had characters, I had etched it. He (Mani Ratnam) took it like an idea. It's like a joke, You tell me a joje, I like it but that final punch could be sharper.  So Mani Ratnam embellished it (Amar Hai), it's another joke (Thug Life). 

 

The way he (Mani Ratnam) said it, the punch-line was not a low-land but up above. So it works better. So it (the script) is the same thing but Mani tweaks it. That is artistry. And to collaborate with someone like that is great rather than combatting with someone great."

Thug Life releases in theaters on June 5, 2025. The movie is a joint production venture of Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. Thug Life has AR Rahman for music, and also stars Silambarasan TR, Trisha among others.
