The multifaceted GV Prakash has previously composed music for the Selvaraghavan directed hits like Aayirathil Oruvan (2010), and Mayakkam Enna (2011). For the first time, GV Prakash is all set to act under Selvaraghavan's direction, and the duo's new film together was announced marking Karthigai Deepam on Friday. 

Titled Mental Manadhil, after the famous AR Rahman song from the Mani Ratnam movie OK Kanmani (2015), this GV Prakash-Selvaraghavan movie has Madhuri Jain playing female lead.

Mental Manadhil is backed by Parallel Universe Production House, and has GV Prakash for music, Arun Ramakrishnan for cinematography, Balaji for edits, and RK Vijay Murugan for art.
