Amaran: How Rajapalayam, Ranuvapettai celebrated Mukund Varadarajan's biopic starring Sivakarthikeyan

Amaran starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead is a biopic film based on the life of later Indian Army major, Mukund Varadarajan Asoka Chakra (Posthumous). The movie released in theaters on October 31, 2024, and has been going strong at the Tamil box-office. 

 

As Amaran entered week 3 of run, makers Raaj Kamal Films International have unveiled two videos, which showcase how two entire regions in Tamil Nadu came together to celebrate the movie. Vellore's Kammavanpettai panchayat, which earned its nickname Ranuvapettai (translates to Army village) due to being home to a large number of servicemen, watched Amaran in swaths, and even gathered to pay homage to Mukund Varadarajan, the video shows. 

 

 

Rajapalayalam, a town in the Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu was another region which came as a whole to watch Amaran, because of the real life attachments to Indian army men and servicemen. Viewers from both regions, expressed how Amaran made them teary-eyed, and were all praises for director Rajkumar Periasamy's showcase of the struggles and sacrifices of those serving in the Indian Army. 

 

 

Red Giant Movies, owned by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has presented Amaran in the state. Recently, the theater owners' association in Tamil Nadu sent an open letter to the filmmakers, requesting the delay of Amaran's OTT release on Netflix, as the film was bringing footfalls even into week 3.
