Following the end of the southwest monsoon, the northeast monsoon arrived in Tamil Nadu causing rainfalls to occur since October 13, 2024 (Sunday). Vettaiyan starring Rajinikanth in the lead released in theaters on October 10, and from day 4 of its run in theaters, rain has played a major spoilsport for the movie.

Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, and surrounding districts were even under red alert for two days due to heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms. Despite the same, Vettaiyan has managed to hold strong in theater screens, and has successfully completed a week on the big screens. 

As Vettaiyan entered week 2 of its run in movie theaters of Tamil Nadu, Lyca Productions, the banner behind the film took to their official X handle to share some of the audience reactions to the movie. The TJ Gnanavel directed film has been garnering words of praise for the social message it imparts, and a few of the can be viewed here:

Outside Tamil Nadu, Vettaiyan has become the highest grossing Tamil film of 2024 in Kerala. While Kerala is a lucrative market for Tamil films, Vettaiyan set the tone right by selling for a minimal price on an advance basis. As a result, Vettaiyan was declared a hit at the Kerala box-office, even before entering week 2. Vettaiyan's week 1 box-office collection in Kerala is close to Rs. 15 Cr. in gross. 

In Kerala, Vettaiyan is the second consecutive hit for Rajinikanth after Jailer, which had a monstrous run. The viral Manasilaayo song composed by Anirudh. Fahadh Faasil's raved performance as 'Battery' Patrick, and Manju Warrier's character as Vettaiyan's bold wife, seems to have helped Vettaiyan's run further in the Malayalam state.

Among the Dussehra 2024 releases in Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, Vettaiyan: The Hunter has been declared as the movie which looks the most profitable. Vettaiyan has collected close to Rs. 20 Cr. in gross, at the AP, Telangana box-office so far.
