Lyca Productions, Red Giant Movies backed Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan in the lead is an upcoming vigilante action, that is all set to release in theaters from July 12, 2024. The movie written and directed by Shankar is a sequel to the Tamil blockbuster Indian (1996), and sees the return of Kamal Haasan as the freedom fighter turned vigilante Senapathy. 

Indian 2 is set years after Indian, and Shankar brings back a now 106 year old Senapathy to combat the country's corruption, in the story. Speaking on the same during Indian 2 promotions, Kamal Haasan set the expectations for the upcoming sequel by stating,

"People might easily say that this (Indian 2 concept) was already seen (in Indian), and we cannot argue with them..But the way we've constructed the screenplay for Indian 2, will make them (early critics) say sorry without saying sorry, and appreciate us." 

 

Kamal Haasan has also revealed that Indian 2 was liked by the censor board members, who cleared the movie with an U/A. Indian 2 runtime is 3 hours and 4 seconds i.e. 180.04 minutes.
